About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, the Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely execution of accounting activities, financial reporting, and month-end close processes in compliance with US GAAP/IFRS, SOX requirements, and corporate accounting policies.

This role partners closely with business leaders and shared services teams to support revenue accounting, billing analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys driving process improvements while delivering high-quality financial insights.

What You'll Do

  • Execute month-end and quarter-end close activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, allocations, depreciation, and intercompany transactions.
  • Perform complex balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
  • Analyze financial results and prepare variance analyses, supporting schedules, and management reporting.
  • Review billing transactions and revenue activity to ensure accurate revenue recognition and accounting treatment.
  • Monitor accounts receivable balances, investigate discrepancies, and support issue resolution.
  • Support intercompany reconciliations and settlement processes.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls, accounting standards, and documentation requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and enhanced financial controls.
  • Support internal and external audit activities.
  • Serve as a trusted finance partner to assigned business units and patient support programs.
  • Collaborate with shared services teams and operational stakeholders to ensure financial data integrity and billing accuracy.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation completed or actively pursuing final-stage CPA certification.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience in a corporate, public accounting, or business unit accounting environment.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting principles and accounting standards (US GAAP and/or IFRS).
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience in a complex, integrated business environment.
  • Experience supporting revenue accounting, billing operations, and accounts receivable processes.
  • Experience with SAP SD (Sales & Distribution) and Project Systems (PS) modules.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience with Power BI, financial reporting tools, and data analytics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large data sets.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting audits and continuous process improvement initiatives.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$66,200 - $88,300
