About the Role

McKesson is seeking a Facilities Manager to lead the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of a highly automated healthcare distribution center.


In this role, you will oversee maintenance operations for complex material handling and warehouse automation systems, including conveyors, sortation equipment, automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), robotics, controls systems, and supporting facility infrastructure. You will lead a team of maintenance professionals responsible for maximizing equipment uptime, improving system reliability, and supporting critical healthcare distribution operations.


As a people leader, you will partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Safety, and Technology teams to drive maintenance excellence, capital project execution, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced automated distribution environment.


What You'll Do

  • Lead maintenance and reliability operations for automated warehouse systems, material handling equipment (MHE), and facility infrastructure.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians, controls specialists, and support personnel.
  • Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for conveyors, sortation systems, ASRS, robotics, and automated equipment.
  • Drive equipment uptime, throughput performance, and operational reliability through data-driven maintenance strategies.
  • Analyze equipment performance metrics, downtime trends, and root causes to identify and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering teams to optimize automation performance and support productivity goals.
  • Lead troubleshooting and recovery efforts for critical equipment failures and operational disruptions.
  • Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, OEM support partners, and automation equipment providers.
  • Oversee CMMS administration, maintenance planning, spare parts management, and asset lifecycle programs.
  • Lead facility and automation-related capital projects, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, environmental requirements, and company policies.
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets, repair expenditures, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support business continuity planning and provide leadership during facility or automation-related emergencies.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience supporting automated distribution centers, warehouse operations, manufacturing facilities, or highly automated industrial environments.
  • Experience maintaining and supporting conveyor systems, sortation equipment, ASRS, robotics, or other automated material handling systems.
  • Experience leading maintenance operations, technical teams, or reliability-focused initiatives.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms, maintenance planning, and asset management programs.
  • Experience managing maintenance vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting large-scale automated distribution centers or fulfillment operations.
  • Experience with automation platforms such as Dematic, Honeywell Intelligrated, Swisslog, TGW, Daifuku, KNAPP, Witron, or similar technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, scanners, VFDs, and controls systems.
  • Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance, predictive maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience leading automation upgrades, system expansions, or capital equipment implementations.
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), or similar industry certification.
  • Experience supporting healthcare, pharmaceutical, logistics, manufacturing, or high-volume distribution operations.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills.

Travel, Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Primarily on-site leadership role within a highly automated distribution center.
  • Frequent presence on the warehouse floor supporting maintenance and operational teams.
  • Regular walking, standing, climbing stairs, and movement throughout the facility.
  • Exposure to operating conveyors, automated material handling systems, robotics, and industrial equipment.
  • May require occasional after-hours support during critical equipment failures, planned maintenance activities, or project implementations.
  • Limited travel may be required for training, vendor meetings, or business needs.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$79,500 - $132,500
