Social Media Manager

Location: Richmond. VA (hybrid- in office 2-3 times/week). Relocation may be offered.



Position Summary:


The Social Media Manager is responsible for developing and executing Wellverse's organic social media strategy, driving audience engagement, strengthening brand presence, and expanding reach across social platforms. This role will help build the Wellverse brand on social media from the ground up, establishing a distinctive presence that increases brand awareness, strengthens audience engagement, and brings the brand’s voice and personality to life. This role owns social channel planning, publishing, community engagement, governance, and performance reporting. 


The Social Media Manager serves as the bridge between Brand, Creative and Events, Corporate communications, and Marketing teams to ensure social media activities align with corporate priorities while maximizing audience growth and engagement. This role works with many cross-functional partners to translate business priorities into relevant, engaging, and measurable social experiences. 

The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on social media practitioner. They understand how to build audiences, create platform-right content, protect brand reputation, navigate complex stakeholder environments, and use insights to continually improve performance. 


Key Responsibilities:


Social Media Strategy



  • Develop and execute organic social media strategies aligned with business and brand objectives. 
  • Define social content pillars and channel-specific strategies. 
  • Monitor social trends, platform updates, and audience behaviors to identify new opportunities. 



Channel Ownership and Content Planning



  • Own social channel governance, content calendars, publishing schedules, and posting cadence. 
  • Manage Wellverse's social media presence across platforms including LinkedIn and future brand channels. 
  • Collaborate with Content, Creative, Communications, and Brand teams to adapt content for social audiences. 



Brand Stewardship and Governance



  • Partner with Brand and Corporate Communications and other internal stakeholders to coordinate messaging and approvals. 



Community Management and Reputation


  • Monitor comments, messages, mentions, tags, and relevant conversations across Wellverse social channels. Maintain response guidance and escalation procedures for routine questions, sensitive topics, and potential issues. Support employee advocacy and brand ambassador initiatives when applicable. 
  • Understand escalation plan with Customer Support, Communications, Legal, and other internal partners when required. 



Analytics and Optimization


  • Track and report on key performance indicators, including engagement, reach, audience growth, and content effectiveness. 
  • Develop recommendations for content optimization based on performance insights and analytics. 



Tools, Vendors, and Operations



  • Manage social media tools, vendors, and platform relationships.  
  • Stay informed about platform changes, and social media best practices, recommending new approaches when appropriate. 


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications and Skills:



  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field. 
  • 4+ years of experience managing social media for a brand or organization. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in social media strategy, publishing, community management, and analytics. 
  • Strong understanding of LinkedIn and other major social platforms. 
  • Experience using social media management and analytics platforms such as Sprout Social or similar tools. 
  • Excellent communication, writing, and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Ability to translate business strategies into engaging and measurable social content.

  • Consistent execution of content and publishing calendars. 
  • Strong brand presence across all active channels. 
  • Audience growth, engagement and learnings across key platforms. 
  • Actionable reporting and optimization recommendations that improve performance.

McKesson Medical-Surgical (MMS), which is expected to become Wellverse in early 2027, is a subsidiary and publicly reported segment of the McKesson Corporation. Position Level - P3

We are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson as part of our Total Rewards. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$85,500 - $142,500
