Position Summary

The Director, Commercial Finance Strategy & Performance serves as a strategic partner to the Vice President of Commercial Finance, helping build enterprise capabilities, integrate insights across segments, and lead strategic initiatives that improve commercial decision-making and business performance.

The role complements segment-aligned Finance leadership by providing a central coordination point for work that spans segments, functions, systems, and data sources. The Director provides the analytical depth, coordination, and execution capacity to support that accountability at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Strategy & Performance

·   Support development of the consolidated Commercial Finance perspective across business segments.

·   Lead cross-segment and transactional-level analyses to identify performance drivers, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.

·   Translate complex financial, customer, product, pricing, sales, and operational data into concise executive insights.

·   Develop repeatable performance frameworks that connect revenue, gross profit, margin, productivity, and customer economics.

Strategic Initiative Leadership

·   Lead or facilitate enterprise initiatives that require financial insight, cross-functional coordination, and disciplined execution.

·   Define scope, governance, workplans, decision points, milestones, and accountabilities.

·   Coordinate stakeholders across Finance, Sales, Operations, Pricing, Data & Analytics, and other functions.

·   Ensure initiatives progress from analysis and recommendation through implementation and measurable outcomes.

Capability Building & Continuous Improvement

·   Ensure tools/processes are set up to answer standard business questions about performance, which can be accessed efficiently, consistently, and in a clear, concise manner by key stakeholders

·   Standardize analytical methods, metrics, and business definitions across Commercial and Product teams

·   Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and reduce fragmented or duplicative work.

Leadership & Organizational Development

·   Serve as a trusted thought partner to the Vice President of Commercial Finance and senior stakeholders.

·   Influence across a matrixed organization without relying on direct authority.

·   Coach team members involved in strategic projects and share analytical best practices.

·   Build enterprise breadth and leadership depth that strengthen the Commercial Finance succession pipeline.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$129,400 - $215,600
