Lead Maintenance Technician

Tuesday - Friday, 3:00AM - 11:30 AM | Saturday 7:00AM – 3:30PM

(Schedule subject to change according to business needs.)

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Lead Maintenance Technician to serve as the single point of technical leadership for our maintenance team at a high-volume pharmacy automation facility. This is a hybrid technician role — roughly half hands-on technical work and half administrative leadership — making it ideal for an experienced tech who’s ready to step into a leadership position without leaving the tools behind.

As the only Lead Tech on the team, you’ll own the full picture: diagnosing and resolving quick-fix issues on the floor, training and developing technicians, tracking equipment downtime, assigning troubleshooting tasks, and driving continuous improvement across maintenance operations. You’ll also be responsible for creating and maintaining SOPs and STPs, managing parts inventory, and representing the maintenance team in weekly cross-site meetings with colleagues. If you thrive in a role where no two days look the same — one moment you’re elbow-deep in a PLC fault, the next you’re coaching a junior tech through a repair — this is your opportunity to make a real impact.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Administrative & Leadership (~50%)

  • Serve as the primary technical lead for the maintenance team, acting as the bridge between technicians and site supervision
  • Own quick-fix issue resolution — triage, prioritize, and either resolve directly or assign to the appropriate technician
  • Track and report equipment downtime; analyze trends and assign troubleshooting tasks to drive resolution
  • Train, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians; lead skill-building sessions and provide hands-on coaching
  • Create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Test Procedures (STPs) for maintenance operations
  • Maintain and track parts inventory; coordinate ordering and ensure critical spares are stocked
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly joint calls and meetings to share updates, discuss events, and align with colleagues across sites
  • Develop and maintain an overall preventive maintenance schedule based on the requirements of each device

Hands-On Technical Work (~50%)

Electrical Troubleshooting & Repair

  • Measure voltage and current accurately and safely; use data to troubleshoot circuits across 460V, 220V, 120V AC and 24V DC systems
  • Read electrical schematics and evaluate equipment operations based on those schematics
  • Read ladder logic, download/upload PLC programs, and troubleshoot PLC functions
  • Work with control circuits using photoeyes, solenoid valves, limit switches, indicating lights, and safety switches
  • Troubleshoot motor starting circuits and power distribution circuits

Mechanical Troubleshooting & Repair

  • Align bearings, shafts, and drives; adjust tension of belts and chains
  • Identify worn or damaged parts and replace them
  • Work with pneumatic circuits involving cylinders and solenoid valves
  • Lubricate, oil, and clean devices as specified in their maintenance manuals
  • Maintain printers and peripheral mechanical devices
  • Computer & Network Systems
  • Analyze cards and chips and replace if necessary
  • Troubleshoot network (Ethernet) systems, cabling, and I/O devices
  • Configure and troubleshoot Windows computers
  • Set up and analyze RS232/RS422 communications between computers and peripheral devices
  • Facilities & General Maintenance
  • Perform general maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational upkeep for all facility equipment, including pharmacy automation systems, office equipment, and computer systems
  • Support light construction, electrical projects, and facility infrastructure improvements
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors on facilities an

Continuous Improvement & Culture

  • Improve quality and efficiency on the production floor
  • Understand and promote McKesson’s I2CARE principles: Integrity, Inclusion, Customer-First, Accountability, Respect, Excellence
  • Communicate effectively at all levels within the organization
