About the Role


We are seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support pharmacy operations through prescription processing, medication dispensing support, inventory management, shipping and receiving, patient communications, and administrative activities.


Working closely with pharmacists and pharmacy team members, you will play an important role in ensuring patients receive medications accurately, safely, and on time while delivering an exceptional customer experience.


What You'll Do:

  • Provide excellent customer service through phone and email interactions with patients, healthcare professionals, and internal teams.
  • Create and maintain patient profiles in pharmacy systems, including Kroll.
  • Process prescriptions and support medication dispensing activities under pharmacist supervision.
  • Coordinate patient appointments, refill requests, and medication shipment schedules.
  • Process third-party billing and assist in resolving reimbursement and adjudication issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to prescriptions, benefits coordination, copayments, and reimbursement activities.
  • Conduct patient follow-up regarding refills, outstanding documentation, and shipment scheduling.
  • Escalate all clinical and medication-related questions to a pharmacist.
  • Package medications according to established guidelines and shipping requirements.
  • Perform shipping, receiving, labeling, packing, and tracking activities for pharmaceutical products.
  • Verify outgoing shipments for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate courier pickups and deliveries and complete required shipping documentation.
  • Receive inventory, reconcile orders, and report discrepancies.
  • Maintain inventory organization and monitor pharmacy supplies.
  • Follow all company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), privacy requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform additional administrative and operational duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working with computer systems and learning new software applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, healthcare, medical office, call centre, warehouse, or customer service environment.
  • Experience with prescription processing, pharmacy billing, or reimbursement support.
  • Experience using Kroll or other pharmacy management software.
  • Understanding of third-party insurance billing and coordination of benefits.
  • Post-secondary education in healthcare, pharmacy, science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in specialty pharmacy or patient support programs.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • This is an onsite position operating Monday through Friday at our Mississauga pharmacy location: 6655 Airport Road, Unit B, Mississauga, ON.
  • Primarily based in a pharmacy and warehouse environment supporting dispensing, shipping, receiving, and inventory activities.
  • Frequent use of computers, telephones, pharmacy management systems, and shipping platforms.
  • Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving inventory throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 22 lbs independently and heavier loads with team assistance when required.
  • Ability to work in multi-temperature environments where applicable.
  • Ability to perform shipping, receiving, packaging, inventory management, and order fulfillment activities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$38,000 - $50,600
