Senior Analyst, Financial Systems Operations – Analytics

Job Description

The Senior Analyst, Financial Systems Operations – Analytics, is a seasoned functional expert responsible for guiding, optimizing, and ensuring the governance of the organization’s financial and analytical solutions. Act as subject matter leader supporting Finance, IT, and business units, influencing technology choices, data structures, processes, and operational practices.

As a key link between business partners and technology, the Senior Analyst plays a pivotal role in solution design, the evolution of the financial analytics landscape, and the successful delivery of strategic data and finance initiatives within the team’s mandate.

This role is ideal for a professional with strong mastery of analytical environments, a broad understanding of financial systems, and the ability to guide both functional decisions and data strategy.

Core Responsibilities

Functional and Strategic Leadership

• Act as a subject‑matter leader for financial and analytical systems, steering approaches, methodologies, and best practices.
• Play a central role in defining functional architectures related to financial data, planning processes, close cycles, profitability, and performance.
• Advise Finance and IT leadership on strategic decisions related to systems evolution and data.
• Coach users, provide ongoing mentorship, and support overall capability growth.

Design and Optimization of Financial Solutions

• Guide the functional design of major analytics initiatives.
• Develop or oversee advanced modeling of financial data, business rules, inter‑system flows, and analytical structures.
• Provide structured recommendations to optimize financial processes, improve data quality, and increase automation.
• Oversee validation, testing, post‑deployment stability, and ongoing governance of solutions.

Advanced Analysis and Complex Problem Resolution

• Analyze multidimensional issues involving multiple systems, datasets, or financial processes.
• Diagnose critical problems, propose sustainable solutions, and assess impacts.
• Prepare high‑level deliverables for executive committees (analyses, scenarios, risks, recommended options).

Project Leadership and Cross‑Functional Initiatives

• Co‑lead key strategic initiatives: data governance, analytics architecture, financial transformation.
• Define functional requirements, oversee their technical execution, and ensure alignment with business needs.
• Collaborate with change management teams to ensure strong adoption of solutions (training, documentation, support).
• Develop or contribute to business cases, cost projections, capacity scenarios, and impact assessments.

Operational Support

• Provide functional support for financial and analytical systems.
• Analyze and resolve critical incidents, data anomalies, and complex operational issues.
• Coordinate with IT teams, key users, and external vendors to ensure effective issue resolution.
• Establish, document, and improve support processes, including triage, escalation, and tracking practices.
• Play a central role during critical periods (e.g., financial close, planning cycles).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, IT, Analytics, or Data Management.
• 7–10 years of experience in analysis, functional expertise, or financial systems roles, including several years in a complex enterprise environment.
• Deep understanding of financial processes (close, planning, allocations, performance, profitability).
• Mastery of analytics and financial technologies used in large organizations, including:
  • BI / Analytics tools: Power BI, SAP SAC
  • FP&A platforms: SAP SAC, SAP PaPM
  • Modern data environments: Databricks, Datasphere, Snowflake
  • Data governance & quality: Collibra, Alation, Informatica DG
• Knowledge of major financial transactional technologies that feed analytics platforms, including:
  • SAP ecosystem (SAP FI/CO, SAP COPA, SAP PS, SAP SD, SAP S/4HANA, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, simplify complex topics, and guide decision‑making.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, systemic thinking, and a structured approach.
• Solid experience in cross‑functional project management or functional leadership.

The incumbent of this position will provide daily support to internal and/or external clients outside Quebec and/or in the United States. Therefore, he/she must be proficient in spoken and written English. Please note that the number of positions requiring English language skills has been limited where possible.
