Job Summary

The Director of eCommerce at McKesson Corporation is accountable for the end-to-end performance, scalability, and resilience of McKesson’s eCommerce fulfillment and digital commerce ecosystem. This role leads both the strategic direction of eCommerce capabilities and the operational execution of order fulfillment, ensuring customer expectations, carrier commitments, and regulatory requirements are consistently met.

This leader partners across Sales, IT, Engineering, Supply Chain, Compliance, and Operations to ensure capacity stays ahead of demand, systems remain stable, and disruptions are rapidly resolved—while continuously improving service, cost, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

eCommerce Fulfillment & Operational Execution

  • Own daily and long-term eCommerce fulfillment performance, including order release, pack-out, labeling, shipment closeout, and carrier handoff.
  • Establish governance over order release timing, labor alignment, system readiness, and execution discipline to consistently meet carrier cutoffs.
  • Define, maintain, and evolve eCommerce throughput models and capacity plans to support growth, late-arriving volume, and peak demand scenarios.
  • Oversee carrier performance (including FedEx), managing lost package investigations, claims processes, corrective actions, and service recovery.
  • Provide operational direction on strategic volume decisions, including One-Time Buy opportunities and full‑pallet ordering for key customers.

Strategy, Platforms & Digital Enablement

  • Develop and execute an eCommerce strategy aligned with McKesson’s enterprise objectives, operational capabilities, and customer needs.
  • Ensure effective integration between eCommerce platforms and fulfillment operations, with clear ownership across order management, WCS, printing, applicators, and supporting systems.
  • Partner with IT and Engineering to evaluate and deploy technologies that enhance throughput, reliability, and customer experience.
  • Use data, performance metrics, and analytics to drive continuous improvement in productivity, dwell time, error reduction, and system stability.

Governance, Risk & Incident Management

  • Serve as the executive escalation point for major eCommerce disruptions, including system outages, carrier failures, and missed shipments.
  • Own communication standards for eCommerce and Masters-related incidents, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent updates to Sales, Leadership, and Customers.
  • Establish cross-functional governance to address recurring operational failure themes, drive corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
  • Provide executive sponsorship for inventory risk discussions and strategic programs, ensuring operational impacts are understood and mitigated within fulfillment models.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Provide executive oversight for DSCSA, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance impacting eCommerce, Masters, Northstar, and Specialty channels.
  • Establish accountability for enterprise-wide resolution of recurring DSCSA, serialization, receiving, and data integrity issues affecting order release or shipment execution.
  • Partner with Compliance, Quality, and Supply Chain leadership to ensure Hazmat and regulatory requirements are clearly interpreted, communicated, and operationalized across distribution centers.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead and develop the eCommerce operations management structure, including inventory and transportation leadership roles.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, IT, Engineering, and Product teams to align capacity, execution, and customer commitments.
  • Influence senior leadership through clear performance reporting, KPI insights, and operational risk visibility.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in eCommerce leadership roles, preferably within a large, complex organization or B2B environment.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful eCommerce strategies that drive significant revenue growth and improve customer experience.
  • Strong understanding of eCommerce platforms (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce), digital marketing channels, web analytics, and SEO/SEM best practices.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain logistics and fulfillment processes in an eCommerce context.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry or with highly regulated products is a significant plus.
