Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position requiring candidates to work on-site at least 2 days per week at our office in Mississauga. The remaining days may be worked remotely, subject to team and business needs.

Job Summary:

As part of the HTA and Submission team, the Senior Consultant will work cross-functionally with other Consulting team members and provide technical expertise on clinical methods. The Senior Consultant provides strategic oversight for reimbursement, pricing, and market access projects. The Senior Consultant also prepares and leads the development of strategic, evidence-based clinical components for submissions to the Canadian Health Technology Assessment (HTA) bodies and public/private payers. In collaboration with cross-functional teams, the Senior Consultant identifies and develops innovative strategies and tactics to optimize pricing, reimbursement and market access opportunities. This position is internal and external facing and requires the ability to initiate, develop, and nurture client relationships through consistently providing sound, trustworthy information and advice and producing quality deliverables helping them to make business decisions. The Senior Consultant is expected to work independently with limited guidance from senior staff and be able to develop and lead approaches to solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical leadership on clinical methods, including statistical methods and advanced clinical trial design.

  • Mentor/coach staff in clinical methods.

  • Lead the development of clinical components (as the role of Technical Expert Lead [TEL] on the project team) for submissions to Canadian HTA bodies, public/private payers and the PMPRB.

  • Identify and develop innovative strategies and tactics to optimize pricing reimbursement and market access opportunities.

  • Develop relationships with clients through producing quality deliverables and building trust.

  • Monitors payer landscape and analyzes potential impacts or emerging trends.

  • Participate as needed with capabilities presentations and/or attend industry events.

  • Interacts with various departments, as needed, to support ongoing business development activities.

  • Other duties as assigned by Director.

Qualifications: 

  • Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, MSc) in a relevant discipline.

  • 6+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology space.

  • 6+ years experience in a health technology assessment (HTA) agency (e.g., CDA (formerly CADTH), INESSS), government (e.g., provincial drug plans, PMPRB), or consulting to pharmaceutical or biotechnology organizations.

  • Knowledge and understanding of health technology assessment (HTA) process, private and public payer markets, their drug review processes and reimbursement trends affecting market access.

  • Knowledge and understanding of statistical methods and advanced clinical trial design.

  • Ability to review and conduct critical appraisal of clinical evidence and scientific literature.

  • Ability to synthesize, interpret, and communicate clinical data, and perform quality assurance checks on clinical report drafts.

  • Strong clinical and/or scientific writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Excellent organizational skills with a superior attention to detail.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, projects and deadlines.

  • Superior communication skills, strategic and critical thinking, and a strong ability to convey technical and scientific information.

  • Comfortable contributing ideas and taking initiative for internal and external projects.

  • Strong record of taking ownership and accountability of tasks and initiatives.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $89,700 - $149,500
