Job Purpose:

The highly competitive US generic pharmaceutical sector continues to challenge every element of the supply chain. In this constantly changing environment, patients can be served through multiple channels in new & different ways, whilst those that dispense prescriptions, the wholesale distributors that supply them and manufacturers all have to react and respond to how the sector is evolving, which is also heavily influenced by payers, regulatory bodies and federal & state law.  To succeed in this environment requires organisations to adapt and change and, at ClarusONE, we play a key role in working alongside multiple stakeholders to deliver the most efficient supply chain model whilst generating value for ourMembers, their customers and patients through innovative sourcing solutions.

The Data Engineer is primarily responsible fordata pipeline creation,designandmaintenancein support of all business functions.The capability this role brings willallow ClarusONE to executedata ingestion and transformation quickly, accurately and efficiently;enabling optimal use and analytical insight to support a wide range of strategic and operational business decision processes, in turn drivingbusiness growth,optimising processesand supporting automation though the use of appropriate data/information.

The Data Engineer will be part of the data engineering team,buildingandmaintainingour data infrastructure. This positionis responsible formonitoring and supporting our production environment,buildingand testing new data pipelines ina modern data warehousing landscape.They will work within the data governance framework at ClarusONE ensuring thatsensitive data is properlyprotected, andwillcollaborateclosely withboththe analytics and data science teams, and the software engineering function, tomaintainan accurate,efficientand conformant dataenvironment.

Responsibilities:

  • Work across the development lifecycle from prototyping, to delivering production data solutions to resolving data issues with the business users

  • Provide dataexpertiseandeffectively supportthe ongoing demand for new or enhanced data sets, aligned to the architecture plan and strategic direction of the data environment

  • Executethe development of dataingestion andtransformationpipelinesusing multiple technologies (SQL, Snowflake,python,DBT / Astronomer, APIs etc);leveragingagile methodologies

  • Support strategic initiatives; design, build and support data solutions conducive to business insights,reportingand analytics

  • Applyingdata engineeringbest practiceand tools to create andmaintaindata pipelines and extract,transformand load data. 

  • Applyingthegood coding standards andprinciplesincludinglogging and unit testingto the pipelines created.

  • Supporting the production data warehouse, communicating issues promptly to stakeholders and working to address them

  • Present and defend complex ideas and recommendation to various level in the organisation

  • Collaborate with all team members to problem solve and create solutions

  • Be an advocate and champion of the ClarusONE data and information assets

  • Recommend process changes to achieve minimal error rates. Track errors and improve process efficiencies

Requirements:

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degreelevel or above

  • 3+years’ experience ina datacentric function

  • Experiencein the healthcare fieldor similar highly regulated environment(sales,purchasingor distribution)preferred, though notrequired.

Knowledge/Skills- Essential

  • Experience of building data ingestion and transformation pipelines

  • Experience working within a structured development and release environment (e.g. peer review, coding standards, CI/CD release processes)

  • Experience of testingand QAin a data context

  • Strongcoding skills, particularly SQL andpython

  • Experience with database technologies and concepts (Snowflake, Databricksor othercloud baseddata warehouses)and data transformation processes(using DBT / Airflow an advantage)

  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail

  • 3years experiencein a data-centric function

  • Willingness to develop new technical skills and become an SME fornew technologiesadopted by the business 

  • Enthusiasm for the data analytics landscape and continued focus on how the market is accelerating
