Here, we focus on the health, happiness, and well-being of you and those we serve – we care.

What you do at McKesson matters. We foster a culture where you can grow, make an impact, and are empowered to bring new ideas. Together, we thrive as we shape the future of health for patients, our communities, and our people. If you want to be part of tomorrow’s health today, we want to hear from you.

We are seeking a Director of Marketing to support the Specialized Care Pharmacy (SCP) business within the Strategic, Community and Specialized Pharmacy (SCS) organization. This strategic, individual contributor role will lead marketing strategy, planning, and execution across the Alternate Site, McKesson Plasma & Biologics (non acute), and Emerging Channels customer segments.
This leader will define and implement the marketing vision for these segments, to drive growth by shaping customer understanding, enabling sales teams, and reinforcing the business value proposition across all touchpoints. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can roll up their sleeves to drive and implement high-impact initiatives across a highly matrixed enterprise.

The Director of Marketing partners closely with Segment Leaders, Sales, Product Management, and the broader SCS Marketing organization to deliver measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Portfolio Marketing

  • Develop and lead the marketing strategy for Alternate Site, MPB (non-acute), and Emerging Channels customer segments.

  • Build annual marketing plans that align to segment growth priorities and revenue objectives, staying responsive to market shifts while maintaining alignment with the business vision.

  • Implement the segment specific value propositions and craft clear, differentiated messaging that resonates with target audiences.

  • Translate business strategy into integrated marketing programs spanning demand generation, content, thought leadership, digital, events, and sales enablement. Leverage data to understand customer needs & willingness to pay, competitive dynamics, and emerging trends.

Content Strategy and Storytelling

  • Content Development: Create high-quality, relevant assets across multiple formats—blogs, videos, infographics, podcasts, social media posts, and email campaigns—to engage audiences at every stage of the buyer journey.

  • Channel Optimization: Distribute content through the right channels (web, social, email, events) to maximize reach and impact.

Go-to-Market (GTM) Strategy & Implementation

  • Lead the development of customer facing content including solution messaging, product briefs, case studies, videos, digital content, and sales tools.

  • Partner with Sales and Product to support solution launches, drive adoption, and strengthen customer engagement.

  • Develop B2B demand generation campaigns to support lead creation, nurture, and conversion.

  • Ensure internal teams have clear, consistent, and compelling materials to communicate segment value propositions.

Market Insights & Performance Measurement

  • Monitor segment trends, competitive landscapes, and customer insights to inform strategy, messaging, and content prioritization.

  • Establish success metrics and regularly evaluate marketing performance, adjusting plans to ensure maximum effectiveness.

  • Provide reporting and executive level communication on marketing impact and business contributions.

Sales Enablement

  •  Leverage platforms like Salesforce and Highspot to provide customer-facing assets, playbooks, and value propositions that resonate with internal and external needs and reinforce brand positioning.

  • Track KPIs such as content utilization to optimize enablement strategies and demonstrate ROI.

Minimum Requirements:

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience. Less years required if candidate has relevant Master’s or Doctorate qualifications.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or equivalent experience.

Critical Skills:

  • 10+ years of progressive B2B marketing experience (strategy, content, demand generation, product/solution marketing, brand, or communications).

  • Experience in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, specialty distribution, or related sectors strongly preferred.

  • Proven success developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that drive measurable business outcomes.

  • Experience working in highly matrixed environments with multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Exceptional communication skills—strong writer, presenter, and storyteller.

  • Experience managing external partners - creative agencies, content developers, digital partners—to support campaign and program execution.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and ability to work independently with sound judgment.

  • Skilled at navigating ambiguity, managing shifting priorities, and executing in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and senior leaders.

Marketing Excellence & Thought Leadership

  • Demonstrates mastery in integrated B2B marketing, including solution positioning, value proposition development, demand generation, and content strategy.
