Job Description

The Client Strategy Lead (RWR) for Ontada will play a critical role in achieving our strategy within the Life Science Organization.  As a Client Strategy Lead focused on oncology data and insights, this leader will be instrumental in helping our clients leverage our data assets and research expertise to achieve their research and clinical objectives.  This role will be focused on translating complex business needs into proposals for fit-for-purpose studies, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and informing sales strategy through the learnings of execution of RWE studies.  This role will help understand customer needs, match those needs with available RWR capabilities, and bridge the gap between business development and project delivery.  This role will work hand-in-hand with Ontada RWR leadership and research staff, account managers, and our business development team to facilitate communication and maximize growth through upselling and/or cross-selling opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Proactive Customer Engagement  

  • Translate customer business needs into fit-for-purpose studies that leverage Ontada’s data assets and capabilities through the development of proposals and sales concept memos

  • Engage regularly with customers to understand their research goals, data needs and challenges. For example: support pre-sales proposal activities and quarterly business reviews post-sales

  • Accountable for ensuring proposed sales concepts are feasible and well aligned with Ontada’s data and service capabilities and priorities

  • Leverage observational research and disease area expertise, and knowledge of the delivery process to identify opportunities for upselling and cross selling additional studies, products and services.

  • Act as the voice of the customer, leading a feedback cycle to sales, data, research, product development and management teams for continuous improvement, innovation, and strategy.

Scientific Leadership  

  • Leverage a wide breadth of approaches, methods, and designs to meet unique and complex customer needs, including but not limited to comparative effectiveness research, prediction modeling, descriptive studies, qualitative interviewing, health economic assessments, and regulatory grade real world studies

  • Support strategy and execution of external thought leadership dissemination to promote Ontada’s unique data and consultative resources and represent Ontada in select external engagements

  • Educate customers in how they can leverage business needs, including identifying synergies our solutions across the Oncosystem to meet their business needs, including identifying synergies with their existing data systems and processes.

  • Gain a deep understanding of the company’s oncology portfolio, including potential RWE gaps

  • Stay updated with industry and regulatory trends and state of the science observational research methods.

Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders that are built on trust and respect.

  • Act as the scientific point of continuity for the customer and the delivery team to ensure customer satisfaction  

New Business Development and Expansion

  • Work closely with the Sales team, Medical Office, and other SMEs to identify opportunities for account expansion, including amendments and follow-on studies to contracted projects

Minimum Requirement

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Education

  • Doctoral degree preferred in epidemiology, clinical research, public health, biostatistics, data science or a related field OR master’s degree in the same disciplines with at least 5 years of real-world research experience

Critical Skills

  • 7+ years of experience in a client-facing role within the life science or data analytics sector

  • Deep experience with electronic health record data required

  • Strong understanding of real-world data (familiarity with study design, data analytics tools, methodologies, and limitations of real-world data)

  • Oncology subject matter expertise preferred.

  • Extensive experience applying pharmacoepidemiologic and relevant statistical methodologies to real-world data to generate actionable insights.

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing customer challenges.

  • Experience with research-related software and AI-based tools is a plus

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$106,400 - $177,300
