Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Senior Manager, Clinical Pharmacy is to provide leadership and clinical oversight of the team, assess optimum staffing needs, work allocation and team composition to support operational readiness. This role has the responsibility for managing teams including clinical pharmacists, REMS nurses, and patient care coordinators (intake, intake refills, discontinuations team). The ideal candidate will build relationships across the teams by encouraging communication, collaboration and drive to fulfill a need of a team member, patient, provider and client.

Leadership

Supports the pharmacy leadership team in assessing optimum staffing needs, work allocation and team composition.
Works with the pharmacy leadership team in the development and measurement of key operational and quality performance metrics that serve to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of patient care.
Responsible for execution of key corporate initiatives, successful budget management and company policies including standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Supports the company in the achievement of cost containment approaches that serve to reduce the cost of products and vendor services.
Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) resource for business development and sales inquiries and responses related to fulfillment.
Responsible for all prescriptions dispensed by the assigned patient care team daily, including ensuring appropriate turnaround times and start dates are met.
Manages all members of the patient care team through evaluation of work output, assignment of
duties, communication, and teamwork.
Provides coaching, mentoring, professional development, performance management and ongoing evaluation of team members to promote professional growth opportunities.
Ensures that all patient care team members provide services in compliance with board of pharmacy rules and regulations, board of nursing rules and regulations, and federal drug laws.
Responsible for oversight of clinical activities conducted within the patient care team, including initial patient counseling, obtaining patient medication profiles, adverse event monitoring, follow up and reporting, compliance monitoring and refills, and provision of drug information to prescribers, patients and other clients.
Operations
Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge for the distribution and fulfillment area.
Dispenses all medication pursuant to a physician’s order and in accordance with all state, federal and board of pharmacy laws.
Compliant with all company policies specifically as they relate to pharmacy operations.
Verifies accuracy of prescription order entry.
Strict adherence to company policy as it relates to all government funded payers, specifically Medicaid and Medicare.
Perform intake of and ensure appropriate reporting of adverse events and product quality complaints as applicable and in accordance with regulatory and contractual obligations.
Professional
Meets or exceeds current CE requirements pursuant to Board of Pharmacy Laws.
Supports professional development goals of staff within the assigned patient care team.
Maintains an attitude of constant learning and ensures self-education within the specialty pharmacy arena.
Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 9+ years of professional experience and 1+ years of supervisory and/or management experience.
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
License
Current and unrestricted license in good standing.
Licensed in the state of Texas to practice pharmacy, license in good standing.
Meets or exceeds current CE requirements pursuant to Board of Pharmacy Laws.
Ability and willingness to apply for additional state licensures as needed.
Critical Skills
3-5 years or more post-graduate experience in pharmacy operations, clinical oversight, and patient care; previous pharmacist-in-charge experience.
Previous management experience required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of computers and excellent word processing skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to effectively utilize reference materials.
Experience in specialty or oncology strongly preferred.
Working Conditions
Onsite role at our Fort Worth location, Monday through Friday.
General Office environment.
Travel less than 20% to Cary, NC.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
