FF&E Design Manager- Texas

Summary

Are you a visionary design leader with a passion for healthcare environments? Join our team as a Design Manager, where you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape innovative, client-focused spaces across a portfolio of capital projects. You'll lead strategic planning, vendor coordination, and design execution—leveraging tools like VR and AR to bring concepts to life. With a strong emphasis on healthcare design, particularly oncology clinics, this role offers the opportunity to influence standards, drive innovation, and make a meaningful impact. What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with the Business Partner, Director of Project Delivery, and Project Managers to maintain a portfolio of capital projects.
  • Engage with Delivery Team and Business Unit leadership to develop project scopes and goals that are client-focused, fiscally conscious, and spatially efficient.
  • Request and analyze client data to inform and substantiate design solutions.
  • Direct external vendors to maximize budget accuracy and schedule efficiency.
  • Coordinate with vendors to obtain facility assessments and relay deficiencies for negotiation.
  • Perform or direct test fit solutions for new or renovated facilities, ensuring integration with HR, regulatory, IT, and Security standards.
  • Facilitate design iterations and advise on potential design fees or change orders.
  • Influence client adoption of innovative solutions using supporting evidence.
  • Ensure client understanding of contract documents and leverage VR/AR tools and mock-ups as needed.
  • Review architectural and engineering documents for compliance with guidelines, codes, and client requests.
  • Report schedule and budget targets and escalate risks as needed.
  • Update project notes, tasks, and dates in project management platforms.
  • Encourage design innovation and document best practices as standards.
  • Collaborate with FFE Specialist to coordinate finishes, schedules, and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate procurement of furniture, artwork, equipment, and signage; ensure package accuracy and budget compliance.
  • Communicate FFE, art, and signage status to the Project Team.
  • Work with project delivery teams to maintain design standards for finishes, furniture, and equipment.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience in managing complex design projects, particularly in healthcare environments.
  • Strong ability to collaborate across teams and communicate effectively with clients and vendors.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Technical proficiency in design tools and project management platforms.
  • A proactive, self-directed approach with polished presentation and negotiation skills.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards and ensuring compliance with design and regulatory guidelines.

Minimum Requirements

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience

Preferable Skills & Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in Healthcare design, particularly oncology clinics
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD & Bluebeam. Revit proficiency is a plus.
  • Self-directed & motivated
  • Polished Executive-level presentation skills, or to a Physician Board.
  • Skilled in conflict de-escalation
  • Knowledge of the Build-to-Suit process preferred
  • Preferably, 5-7 years of design management experience, during employment at an architectural or interior design firm, or with mixed experience as an Owner’s Representative.
  • Registered Architect or Licensed Interior Designer, in the State of Texas
  • Travel: 15%, locally and/or within Texas & Oklahoma

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$89,100 - $148,500
