McKesson’s Strategic, Community & Specialized Pharmacy (SCS) is a segment within McKesson’s Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSaS) business that cultivates relationships across a diverse customer set of pharmacies. Our team is driven by the core belief that pharmacies are the front door to healthcare for patients, and they will evolve and thrive with our support. SCS pharmacy customers represent more than 22,000 pharmacy locations across the U.S. and account for more than $220 billion in revenue for McKesson. The segment delivers tailored, high-touch solutions to specialized care pharmacies, alternate sites, emerging pharmacy channels, independent community-based pharmacies, and national retail accounts, helping them navigate complexity and grow sustainably.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Strategic Planning to lead our Project Management Office within the Strategy, Marketing, and Operations team. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Strategic Planning and Management, this position will be crucial to support the development of strategic plans and leading the implementation of strategic initiatives that advance McKesson’s Strategic, Community, and Specialized Pharmacy (SCS) segment objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to leadership, evidenced by a proven track record of developing high-performing teams. Additionally, this individual will have extensive experience in project management, effectively managing multiple complex projects simultaneously. Collaboration across various groups will be essential, requiring the ability to establish credibility and support for cross-functional initiatives, thereby achieving the SCS segment’s objectives and growth goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of Project Managers tasked with implementing strategic initiatives for the SCS segment. Foster a positive team culture and ensure team engagement and development through coaching and supporting employees in project management and leadership skills.

  • Strategy Execution: Guide the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with operators, ensuring alignment with overarching strategy and addressing any emerging questions or obstacles to deliver results. Ensure that short-term goals are met within specified timelines.

  • Project Management: Oversee strategic projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Adapt priorities as needed and manage stakeholder relationships and expectations. Collaborate with the VP of Strategic Planning to approve and assign all PMO projects.

  • SCS FY Planning: Support the annual planning process to develop Fiscal Year priorities for the SCS segment. Develop and maintain the SCS Scorecard and initiatives tracker to monitor business performance and progress towards segment goals.

  • Executive QBRs: Facilitate the collection of data and inputs and work with identified team members to finalize materials for internal executive Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).

Minimum Requirement

  • Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience. Advanced degree in Health Care Services, Health Care Administration or MBA preferred.
  • PMP certified or able to achieve PMP certification in 1st 12 months.
  • Must have the ability to travel up to 20% of the time

  • Lead without authority: Strong ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals within stated timelines.

  • Healthcare Knowledge: In-depth understanding of stakeholders, trends, economic drivers, and policy across the healthcare industry.

  • Excellent computer skills, especially with Smartsheet, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$148,100 - $246,800
