The Sr. Manager, Drug Margin Forecasting plays a critical role within US Oncology Network (USON) Finance, overseeing all aspects of drug margin budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for one of the nation’s largest and most complex healthcare networks. This position leads the forecasting process end-to-end, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with USON’s strategic and financial objectives.

This role partners closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver clear, actionable insights that inform key business decisions. While leveraging advanced analytics and forecasting models, the focus remains on producing reliable financial projections, managing the annual budgeting cycle, and delivering timely variance analysis and reporting to stakeholders.

Operating at the intersection of finance, operations, and strategy, the Sr. Manager is accountable for the continuous improvement of forecasting tools, data quality, and reporting processes. This includes integrating relevant datasets—financial, operational, and market—into the forecasting process to anticipate risks, identify opportunities, and support performance improvement.

As a leader within the finance team, the Sr. Manager, Drug Margin Forecasting mentors colleagues, promotes best practices in forecasting and financial management, and ensures consistent application of data governance standards. By maintaining disciplined, data-driven processes, this role supports USON’s mission to deliver high-quality, cost-effective cancer care through sound financial stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

Drug Margin Forecasting Leadership

  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes for drug margin, ensuring alignment with USON’s strategic and financial objectives.

  • Oversee the design and improvement of forecasting models, tools, and processes to produce accurate, actionable projections, incorporating key financial drivers such as product volume, drug pricing, GPO discounts, and reimbursement trends.

  • Maintain standards for accuracy, transparency, and usability in forecasting outputs, enabling clear communication and decision support for stakeholders.

Analytics & Insight Generation

  • Integrate and analyze financial, operational, and market datasets to identify key drivers of drug margin and strengthen the accuracy and relevance of forecasts and budgets.

  • Apply appropriate analytical methods to support scenario planning and trend analysis, ensuring outputs are practical, reliable, and actionable.

  • Present findings in a clear, concise format that supports decision-making and provides meaningful insights to senior leadership.

Reporting & Visualization

  • Automate and improve drug margin reporting processes and tools, using Excel and/or Power BI dashboards to deliver timely, actionable intelligence to stakeholders.

  • Maintain and refine reporting frameworks to ensure consistency, accuracy, and ease of use for business partners.

  • Periodically assess and adopt enhancements that improve reporting efficiency and clarity, while keeping the focus on meeting core business needs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with US Oncology Network FP&A, Finance Ops, GPO, Revenue Cycle, and Managed Care teams to develop data-driven solutions that improve drug margin performance.

  • Build a deep understanding of key drug margin levers (including iReserve) to enhance the accuracy of forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.

  • Promote alignment and effective communication across teams to ensure consistent methodologies and shared insights.

Mentorship, Thought Leadership & Change Agent

  • Mentor and coach less experienced analysts and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

  • Champion best practices in analytics, forecasting, and data governance across the organization.

  • Drive change by identifying opportunities for process improvement, automation, and digital transformation in financial planning and analysis.

Ad Hoc Analysis & Strategic Initiatives

  • Perform ad hoc analyses to support decision-making and strategic initiatives focused on drug margin.

  • Contribute insights to identify potential risks and opportunities and assist in developing recommendations to address them.

Minimum Requirement

Degree and typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience. Less years required if has relevant Master’s or Doctorate qualifications.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, or similar) in finance, analytics, or related field preferred.

Critical Skills

  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, financial modeling, or analytics, with a demonstrated track record of leading complex forecasting and budgeting initiatives in a large, matrixed organization.

  • Technical Skills: Deep expertise in advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and AI/ML applications for forecasting. Mastery of Excel, Power BI/Tableau, and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion).

  • Leadership: Recognized as an in-house expert and lead contributor; experience mentoring others and leading large-scale projects.

  • Financial systems experience with ability to reconcile information from multiple sources.

  • Prior FP&A experience performing budget, forecast, plan, variance analyses.

  • Excellent financial modeling and problem-solving skills

  • Intermediate skills in Excel (formulas, modeling, pivot tables) and PowerPoint.

  • Strong time management and organization skills with flexibility to work in a fast-paced and changing work environment

  • Experience collaborating with C-suite executives

  • Ability to collaborate with teams across multiple functions to affect a solution

  • Strong internal and external customer service and relationship-building skills

  • Executive presence and experience with presentations to various leadership levels

  • Ability to provide strategic recommendations and influence stakeholders to make decisions

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Intellectual curiosity & highly independent

  • Prior leadership experience a plus

Salary: 116,300.00 - 155,000.00 - 193,800.00 USD Annual with 20% MIP Bonus

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
