Summary of Key Responsibilities: 

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, “Sr. BIA”, works to acquire detailed understanding of business processes, drivers, roles and metrics related to specific lines of business within the SCRI organization. The Sr. BIA serves as a primary contact for assigned line of business and is expected to apply knowledge and skills across other lines of business within the SCRI organization, as needed.  Additionally, the Sr. BIA proactively identifies opportunities to leverage technology or process support in delivery organizational reporting and analysis. This involves serving as a liaison between the assigned SCRI organization and IT by offering support and business knowledge in the design, development, and implementation of processes, applications, and reports to support key business initiatives.  In partnership with IT, the Sr. BIA is a recognized subject matter expert who actively participates in the development and implementation of business intelligence reporting and supports the operations that measure and communicate organizational strategic metrics and objectives.  

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Support assigned line of business as subject matter expert of business processes, handoffs, and interdependencies; cconceptualize long term strategies to meet organizational reporting and analysis goals 

  • Partner with other business intelligence analysts outside of assigned line of business to offer recommendations and support to other areas of the business, as needed 

  • Consult with business leaders, business users, and other team members to answer complex business questions through reporting and ad hoc analysis by gathering information on desired solution, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, controls, and audience and/or end users 

  • Provide solution recommendations to the business by partnering with IT to understand up-to-date Information System options 

  • Stay current with customer needs and strategies; utilizing formal and informal written communication methods to communicate updates and findings; and facilitating requirements meetings and presentations to all types of diverse audiences (for example, senior management, customers, technical staff) 

  • Determine methods to capture and baseline metrics that align to strategy and/or specific project requirements 

  • Design, develop, and implement standard and ad hoc reporting to support business needs 

  • Offer consultation services to management around the creation of reporting 

  • Use data to help make recommendations to management and leadership 

  • Provide leadership to other business analysts within the Reporting and Analytics team and aids the Manager in accomplishing departmental objectives

  • Collaborate with IT to leverage all aspects of business intelligence technologies by providing requirements, aligning on delivery mechanisms, validating data model/architecture outputs, and supporting the maintenance of reporting environments

  • During your employment with SCRI you will be routinely assigned training requirements. You are expected to complete any training assignments by the due date. 

Competencies 

Knowledge: A body of information needed to perform tasks; May be obtained through education, training or experience 

  • Experience in gathering business requirements, report creation, and maintenance 

  • Experience in process support for creation/maintenance of data flows to enhance data availability for improved analysis and reporting 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to allow facilitation of business objectives 

Skills: The proficiency to perform a certain task 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly draw conclusions 

  • Experience with BI reporting platforms such as MicroStrategy and PowerBI 

  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and non-verbal 

  • Strong active listening skills 

  • Experience working in a matrix environment and with virtual team members / stakeholders 

Abilities: An underlying, enduring trait useful for performing duties 

  • Apply the fundamental concepts and principles gained through experience to solve a range of straightforward problems and moderately complex problems 

  • Ability to use fact and data to educate colleagues at many levels of the organization 

  • Ability to work independently, receive minimal guidance and provide direction to colleagues with less experience 

  • High customer orientation and relationship building competencies  

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 3+ years of experience as a BA

  • Requirements gathering 

  • Report creation/maintenance 

  • High level understanding of SQL development and DAX language with a general  understanding of relational and multi-dimensional designs 

  • Designing, developing and maintaining reports to support a growing organization 

  • Experience working on high profile technology and/or reporting projects
