The Senior Director, Pharmacy Solutions leads the strategy, adoption, and optimization of oncology drug management initiatives across The US Oncology Network. This role serves as a critical link between enterprise strategy and community oncology practice execution, helping practices navigate evolving clinical, financial, operational, and market dynamics while ensuring safe, sustainable adoption of oncology therapies.

This leader oversees a high-performing team of Pharmacy Solutions Directors responsible for strategic practice engagement, portfolio management, and performance optimization. Working closely with physician leaders and cross-functional stakeholders across the GPO, Operations, Finance, Research, Analytics, Technology, Market Access, and Manufacturer Relations, the Senior Director aligns enterprise capabilities with practice needs to advance patient access, improve practice performance, and support long-term economic sustainability.

As a trusted advisor to both practices and enterprise leadership, this individual combines deep oncology expertise, drug economics knowledge, and operational leadership to drive strategic decision-making, strengthen Network readiness, and advance pharmacy growth initiatives across the Network.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a visible and influential oncology leader with a demonstrated ability to translate complex clinical, financial, and market insights into actionable strategies. They possess strong executive presence, lead through influence, and have a track record of delivering measurable outcomes in community oncology, specialty pharmacy, or healthcare strategy environments.

The successful candidate will be equally comfortable engaging with physicians, practice executives, manufacturers, payers, and enterprise leaders while developing talent, driving accountability, and leading large-scale strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Drug Strategy & Portfolio Leadership

  • Lead development and prioritization of Network drug strategy initiatives by integrating clinical evidence, physician perspectives, manufacturer pipeline intelligence, payer dynamics, reimbursement considerations, and practice economics.
  • Establish portfolio governance, prioritization frameworks, and performance measures to ensure successful execution of strategic initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team of Pharmacy Solutions Directors.
  • Establish clear accountability, performance expectations, and development opportunities to build organizational capability and future leaders.

Practice Strategy & Performance Optimization

  • Partner with Network practices to support adoption of strategic initiatives, optimize drug utilization strategies, and improve practice performance.
  • Serve as an executive sponsor for key practice relationships and strategic growth opportunities.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution

  • Collaborate with physician governance groups and enterprise stakeholders to align priorities, remove barriers, and drive enterprise-wide execution.
  • Lead complex, high-visibility initiatives that require alignment across multiple business functions.

Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Connect clinical, operational, and financial insights to identify opportunities, assess impact, and support informed decision-making.
  • Ensure strategic recommendations are supported by measurable outcomes and value realization.

Market Intelligence & Industry Engagement

  • Monitor emerging therapies, industry trends, payer landscapes, and reimbursement changes to inform Network strategy.
  • Represent the organization through professional associations, conferences, advisory boards, and industry forums.

  • Successful delivery of a prioritized enterprise drug strategy portfolio with defined objectives, milestones, accountability, and measurable outcomes.
  • Increased Network readiness and adoption of strategic initiatives across practices.
  • Improved practice engagement, satisfaction, and overall performance outcomes.
  • Strong alignment between clinical and financial strategies resulting in measurable business impact.
  • High-performing Pharmacy Solutions team demonstrating engagement, accountability, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Effective governance processes supporting timely decision-making and enterprise execution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; equivalent experience considered.
  • Typically requires 13+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum 6+ years of leadership and Oncology experience managing and developing teams in complex healthcare environments.

Education

  • PharmD or equivalent pharmacy degree required.
  • Active pharmacist license in good standing required.
  • MBA, MHA, MS, or other advanced degree preferred.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 13+ years of progressive experience in oncology, specialty pharmacy, healthcare strategy, market access, practice operations, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of people leadership experience with demonstrated success building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Deep knowledge of oncology therapeutics, community oncology care models, manufacturer pipelines, reimbursement, payer dynamics, and drug economics.
  • Experience leading enterprise-level initiatives across matrixed organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect clinical and financial strategies to measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, executive communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Active participation in industry organizations, advisory boards, conferences, or professional networks preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Remote opportunity within the United States, subject to company policy.
  • Up to 30% travel for practice engagement, leadership meetings, and industry events.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $174,100 - $290,100
