Job Summary
The Director, Technology Enablement & Delivery Flow (M4) is responsible for leading and evolving the organization's technology delivery operating model, enabling high-performing teams to deliver business value efficiently, predictably, and at scale. This people leadership role drives technology enablement, delivery excellence, portfolio governance, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement across multiple technology domains.
The Director partners closely with senior technology and business leaders to remove delivery impediments, optimize flow across teams, improve organizational agility, and establish scalable practices that accelerate value realization. This leader is accountable for building and developing teams, driving operational rigor, and ensuring delivery organizations are aligned to enterprise priorities and strategic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Enablement & Delivery Flow Leadership
- Lead the strategy, operating model, and execution of technology enablement and delivery flow initiatives across multiple product, platform, and engineering teams.
- Establish frameworks, standards, and governance processes that improve delivery predictability, throughput, quality, and business alignment.
- Drive organizational improvements focused on reducing delivery friction, improving cross-functional coordination, and accelerating time-to-value.
- Develop and execute roadmaps that enhance technology delivery capabilities, tools, processes, and organizational effectiveness.
People Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of program managers, delivery leaders, scrum masters, agile practitioners, and operational excellence professionals.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous learning, and customer-focused delivery.
- Provide career development, mentoring, succession planning, and talent management across the organization.
- Build organizational capability through effective workforce planning, talent acquisition, and skills development strategies.
Delivery Governance & Portfolio Management
- Establish and oversee portfolio governance frameworks to ensure strategic alignment, transparency, and execution excellence.
- Monitor portfolio health, delivery performance, resource utilization, dependencies, risks, and value realization.
- Facilitate executive governance forums, operational reviews, and decision-making processes.
- Ensure technology investments are prioritized and executed in alignment with business objectives and enterprise strategy.
Organizational Effectiveness & Operational Excellence
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance delivery performance, operational maturity, and team effectiveness.
- Define and monitor key delivery metrics, OKRs, KPIs, flow measures, and organizational health indicators.
- Identify systemic bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions to improve end-to-end delivery performance.
- Promote adoption of Lean, Agile, DevOps, and product-centric delivery practices across the technology organization.
Strategic Planning & Business Partnership
- Partner with senior business and technology leaders to align delivery portfolios with strategic priorities.
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable delivery plans, staffing strategies, and execution roadmaps.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on organizational performance, delivery risks, and transformation opportunities.
- Support annual planning, investment prioritization, budgeting, and capacity management activities.
Technology Transformation & Change Leadership
- Lead large-scale delivery transformation initiatives focused on improving agility, speed, quality, and business outcomes.
- Champion organizational change and enable adoption of new operating models, tools, and delivery methodologies.
- Drive enablement strategies that increase team effectiveness and support enterprise transformation goals.
- Ensure successful implementation and sustainment of delivery improvement initiatives across the technology landscape.
Communication & Executive Influence
- Communicate effectively with executive leadership, stakeholders, and teams at all organizational levels.
- Deliver concise executive-level reporting on portfolio health, delivery performance, organizational risks, and improvement initiatives.
- Influence strategic decisions through data-driven insights and recommendations.
- Build strong relationships across technology, business, finance, operations, and vendor organizations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- 12–15+ years of progressive experience in technology delivery, technology operations, program management, portfolio management, or organizational transformation.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience leading managers and/or delivery organizations.
- Proven success leading large-scale technology portfolios, delivery organizations, or transformation initiatives in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong experience with Agile, Lean, Product, DevOps, and modern technology delivery practices.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and drive organizational change across matrixed environments.
- Strong financial management, strategic planning, organizational leadership, and operational governance experience.
- Experience establishing delivery metrics, performance dashboards, and organizational health measures.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt strongly preferred.
- SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), PMP, Certified Scrum Professional, or equivalent certifications.
- Experience leading Technology Enablement, Agile Transformation, Engineering Excellence, Delivery Excellence, PMO Transformation, or Flow Optimization functions.
- Experience implementing value stream management, flow metrics, portfolio planning, and delivery analytics capabilities.
- Experience within healthcare, pharmaceutical, distribution, or other highly regulated enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with modern engineering practices including CI/CD, platform engineering, cloud technologies, and DevSecOps.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
