The Clinical Specialist develops and maintains clinical education programs and resources that support the onboarding, ongoing development, and clinical excellence of oncology nurses and related roles. This role advances high-quality, evidence-based care and fosters professional growth in alignment with organizational priorities and patient-centered outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs, delivers, and evaluates onboarding and professional development programs for oncology nurses and related roles, including live and on-demand courses and onboarding guides.

  • Creates and maintains clinical resources such as nursing standards, job aids, and reference materials to support safe and effective patient care aligned with evidence-based practices, clinical guidelines, and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborates on the implementation of new oncology therapies, clinical advancements and required practice updates, including planning, training, and development of clinical resources to ensure timely integration into practice.

  • Leads shared governance councils focused on nursing and professional development to promote engagement and continuous improvement.

  • Maintains current knowledge of oncology clinical practice and collaborates with stakeholders to design and implement initiatives that improve clinical effectiveness and patient outcomes.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills

  • 4+ years of oncology clinical practice required.

  • Radiation oncology nursing experience a plus

  • Proven experience in clinical education, onboarding, and professional development.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and implement new clinical practices.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, including creating and delivering presentations to clinical professionals and leaders such as physicians and advanced practice providers.

  • Experience in quality improvement and clinical resource development.  Experience writing policies and procedures a plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a matrixed environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), Smartsheet, and AI tools such as Copilot preferred.

Education and Licensure

  • BSN or equivalent healthcare degree required.

  • Master’s in Nursing Education, Healthcare Leadership, or related field preferred.

  • Oncology Nursing Certification (e.g., OCN) or equivalent preferred.

  • Certification in Nursing Professional Development or Healthcare Leadership preferred.

  • Active state licensure in a healthcare profession.

Working Conditions

  • Remote-based position with standard office environment requirements

  • Must be able to meet general office demands, including prolonged screen time and virtual collaboration

  • Requires up to 30% travel for meetings, training, and onsite support

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$88,700 - $147,800
