Senior Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer – Okta

About the Job

As aSenior IAM Engineer, you are a senior individual contributoroperatingin acomplex,businesscriticalenvironment, recognized for your depth ofexpertisein Identity and Access Management. You will own and evolve key IAM platforms, serve as a trusted technical resource across security and technology teams, and deliver solutions that directly enable secure access at scale.

This role emphasizeshands-ontechnical ownership, advancedproblem solving, andcross functionalinfluence, withoutpeoplemanagement responsibility. You will work with significant autonomy, exercising judgment within broadly defined policies, and your decisions will have amaterial and lasting impacton business outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as asenior technical ownerfor IAM platforms, with primary accountability for design, configuration, integration, and ongoing optimization.

  • Lead delivery ofcomplex IAM initiatives, including authentication modernization, CIAM use cases, and secure application integrations.

  • Act as asubjectmatterexpert and advisorto engineering, security, and application teams on identity architecture, access controls, and best practices.

  • Design and implementscalable authentication and authorization patterns, balancing security, usability, and operational efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot and resolvehigh complexityIAM issues, applying creativity and independent judgment to develop durable solutions.

  • Contribute to the evolution of IAM standards, patterns, andmethods;influence platform roadmaps and technical direction.

  • Partner across organizational boundaries and, whenappropriate, serve as atechnical lead or principal point of contactforIAM relatedinitiatives.

  • Support shared operational responsibilities in aclearly defined,sustainableoncallor escalation model.

What You Will Bring 

  • Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience andtypically 7+yearsrelative experience. 

  • Core IAM Expertise:Deephands-onexperience withOkta Identity Engineincluding authentication flows, lifecycle management, and integrations.

  • Technical Depth:Strong understanding ofSSO, MFA, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, directory services, and identity lifecycle concepts.

  • Scripting or automation experience(e.g.,Terraform, Python, PowerShell) used to improve IAM operations and integrations.

  • Problem Solving:Proven ability to resolvecomplex, nonroutine problemsusing independent judgment within broadly defined standards and policies.

  • Autonomy & Impact:Demonstratedsuccess operating withminimal direction, setting technical approaches, and delivering outcomes that are critical to organizationalobjectives.

  • Collaboration:Ability to influence and partner across teams; experiencerepresentingIAM incross functionalinitiatives or project leadership roles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience withCIAM implementations,customer facingauthentication, or largescale identity integrations.

  • Exposure toPing, ForgeRock, or similar IAM platformsin addition to Okta.

  • Cloud identity experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modernzerotrustsecurity patterns.

  • Relevant security or IAM certifications (e.g., Okta, CISSP,CIAMfocused credentials).

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

€72,800 - €121,300
