About The Team

CoverMyMeds' Specialty Access & Affordability (SA&A) Product team is looking for a Director, Specialty Product Portfolio to lead product portfolio execution and serve as the Release Train Engineer, operating within our scaled Agile delivery model. This role connects strategy to delivery, overseeing the teams delivering medical prior authorization (MedPA), benefits verification, enrollment, affordability, and biopharma-sponsored services, while driving the operational rhythm, cross-functional alignment, and continuous improvement that enable specialty products to deliver at scale.

What You'll Do

As a Director, Specialty Product Portfolio, your daily responsibilities will shift with business needs, but here's a snapshot of what that looks like:

  • Leads and develops a team of product owners, project managers, business analysts and other RTEs across the specialty portfolio, setting priorities, coaching for growth, and ensuring consistent practice across the teams
  • Collaborates with engineering, product, sales, operations, corporate strategy, legal, and other stakeholders to evaluate the specialty portfolio against current and future market needs, identifies gaps, and drives recommendations on investment, divestment, and resource allocation across the portfolio
  • Establishes repeatable product practices across the value stream, including backlog readiness, value proposition development, go-to-market coordination, and cross-portfolio collaboration with teams across CoverMyMeds
  • Serves as the Release Train Engineer and chief facilitator for one agile release train, leading all SAFe ceremonies including PI Planning, ART Sync, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt, to drive work to completion, capture lessons learned and optimize ways of work across the train
  • Enables business value scoring and prioritization, coordinates dependencies across Engineering, Product, UX, Data, and Operations, sets direction on interrupt work capacity, and leads OKR alignment and adoption
  • Tracks key metrics and leverages AI-enabled dashboards to surface risks, improve delivery predictability, and sustain portfolio health, establishing governance to monitor systemic gaps and corrective actions; manages cross-team impediments and escalates issues that cannot be resolved at the value stream level
  • Defines and owns the specialty incident management response, customer follow-up, contractual commitments, and audit records
  • Tracks and communicates strategic initiatives across the specialty portfolio, including capability development, modernization, pricing model changes, and automation. Leads executive reporting on key metrics, including financial tracking, forecasting, progress against goals, and risk detail through executive readouts and updates.
  • Owns and strengthens relationships with cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Sales, Operations, Commercial, Support, Legal, and Strategy to ensure the portfolio is operationally sound, commercially aligned, and effectively supported across the business.

Skills You'll Need

  • Degree or equivalent experience, with 12+ years of professional experience, including 4+ years in a managerial role and 8+ years leading product managers or a product portfolio
  • Experience serving as or working closely with a Release Train Engineer in a SAFe environment; SAFe RTE, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent certification preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to stack rank competing priorities across a complex portfolio, drive cross-functional alignment, and lead teams through platform modernization or large-scale technology transformation
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and systems thinking skills; comfortable making decisions in times of ambiguity with input from engineering, product, operations, and commercial stakeholders
  • Product, project, and portfolio management
  • Financial acumen, including budget planning and complex financial analysis
  • Strategy and change management

Preferred Skills

  • Effective communication skills across all levels, from executives to individual team members
  • Experience with go-to-market planning, commercialization processes, and P&L or financial management
  • Familiarity with Jira, OKR frameworks, and AI-enabled analytics tools; use of AI technologies in product development
  • Healthcare and healthcare technology experience in Access, Provider, and/or Payer industry segments
  • Experience in specialty pharmacy, hematology/oncology, or complex/specialty drug access workflows
