Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Sr. Director, Digital & AI Strategy - Oncology & MultiSpecialty to serve as our AI expert, evangelist, and educator—with a focus on the transformative potential of AI in Community focused care. This strategic role is dedicated to identifying and researching emerging AI technologies, fostering organizational understanding, and guiding responsible exploration of AI’s impact on the Oncology & MultiSpecialty healthcare landscape.

As the chair of the Oncology AI Council, you will lead identification of early AI use cases, cross-functional dialogue, promote AI literacy, and ensure the organization remains informed and prepared for the evolving AI ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Intelligence & Research

    • Continuously monitor and analyze emerging AI trends, tools, and innovations relevant to the healthcare industry.

    • Evaluate the potential impact of AI technologies on clinical, operational, and administrative functions.

    • Produce strategic insights and white papers to inform executive leadership.

  • AI Council Leadership

    • Chair and coordinate the internal AI Council, bringing together leaders from clinical, IT, legal, compliance, and business units.

    • Facilitate discussions on AI governance, ethical considerations, and strategic alignment.

    • Develop and maintain an AI vision that reflects organizational priorities and market developments.

  • Education & Enablement

    • Design and deliver educational programs, workshops, and resources to upskill internal teams on AI concepts, risks, and opportunities.

    • Serve as a subject matter expert and internal consultant on AI-related topics.

    • Promote a culture of responsible AI awareness and literacy across the organization.

  • Strategic Advisory

    • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on AI strategy and readiness.

    • Collaborate with external partners, academic institutions, and industry groups to stay at the forefront of AI innovation.

    • Provide guidance on AI-related policy, regulatory, and ethical implications.

Minimum Requirements 

  • Typically requires 13+ years of professional experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills.

Critical Skills  

  • 10+ years of experience in AI, data science, or healthcare technology strategy.

  • Deep understanding of AI technologies, including machine learning, NLP, and generative AI, especially in healthcare contexts.

  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing without direct authority.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex AI topics for non-technical audiences.

  • Passion for education, innovation, and ethical technology use.

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience working in or with healthcare providers, payers, or life sciences organizations.

  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FDA AI/ML guidance).

  • Experience in academic research or publishing in AI or healthcare domains.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.

  • Master’s or PhD

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$150,800 - $251,300
