Current Need:
McKesson Medical-Surgical is seeking an Instructional Designer Leader to support key initiatives for our Sales Organization. This person will drive strategy and execute on highly visible training initiatives for our sales force and the business. Strong knowledge of Instructional Design, effective communication, listening and synthesis, strategic thinking, expert influencing and stakeholder management, and strong organizational skills are all essential for success in this role. They will need to partner with the VP of Sales training to conduct a needs analysis for our MMS Sales organization and then design and execute an end to end training program, building flexible solutions that evolve with our employee’s needs.
Purpose
The Instructional Designer will use multimedia technology and authoring tools, and knowledge of adult learning theories to design and develop instructional materials. These materials will facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner. Training and reference materials are developed to support leadership, sales field representatives, potentially sales support roles.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct needs analysis processes with key stakeholders to uncover training opportunities based on business needs
Serve as an advisor in adult education to pinpoint potential training opportunities.
Work with cross-functional team of subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs, and meet specified timelines
Develop objectives and ensure content matches those objectives
Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to design and execute a curriculum of courses and eLearning to ensure all areas of the operations are receiving Onboarding, Ongoing, and Program Specific Training
Review program business rules, interview Subject Matter Experts, participate in implementation meetings to gather knowledge necessary to create instructional content that helps end users effectively perform their role
Create, revise and rewrite content to shape it for targeted audience’s learning needs
Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer of knowledge, behaviors, and skills
Create material/media/activities to support learning (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
Determine the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop and execute assessment instruments
Adapt instructional materials created for one format (e.g., instructor led) to other formats such as e-learning
Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
Apply proven instructional design theories, practice and methodsPresent information using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos and lectures.
Minimum Requirements: Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Travel: Up to 25%
Required Basic Qualifications:
Our preferred candidate will be located within the Richmond, VA area
7 years experience designing and developing learning content for a variety of deliver modalities
2+ years working with e-learning software (Articulate 360, Illustrator, Captivate, Adobe creative cloud, animation/motion graphics) and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Design and execute digital materials primarily for training end users. Training content may include virtual training, interactive e-learning, self-paced learning, micro-learning, videos, podcase, blended learning, etc.
Demonstrated expertise in advanced Instructional Design methodologies
Experience conducting instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
Ability to be flexible and work consistently in a dynamic and changing environment
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral, with diverse groups and individuals
Strong problem solver with the ability to present issues clearly and provide solutions
Strong quality orientation including the ability to focus on details and adhere to quality standards
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize responsibilities, and identify and implement areas for process improvement
Additional Skills
Training design and adult learning (i.e., ADDIE Model, SAM, Design Thinking, Kirkpatrick Model) a plus
Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, work under pressure and meet deadlines and schedules
Strong customer service orientation
Experience in customer service, healthcare and/or pharmaceutical industry a plus
Highly motivated and committed to excellence with a positive attitude
Healthcare, Distribution, and / or Sales experience preferred
Education
Bachelor’s degree with a concentration on adult education or instructional design preferred or equivalent experience
Master’s degree a plus

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
