Job Title: Sr. Manager, DC Expansion

Position Summary (Purpose of job): 

The Sr. Manager (DC Expansion) leads managers, supervisors, and cross‑functional teams within a specialized DC / warehouse functional area to ensure high‑quality execution of complex programs and initiatives. This role oversees planning, prioritization, and operational management of multiple delivery pipelines, ensuring alignment with McKesson’s organizational strategy, business priorities, and performance expectations. It defines departmental delivery goals, KPIs, and standards while monitoring progress and resolving delivery challenges. The Sr. Manager builds long‑range resource plans, delivery forecasts, and performance frameworks that guide execution excellence. 

The role collaborates closely with business partners, IT leadership, and other delivery functions to enable seamless end‑to‑end delivery and integration across teams. It fosters continuous improvement through standardization of methodologies, governance, and process enhancements. With ownership of departmental budgets, vendor partnerships, and strategic investments, the Sr. Manager ensures disciplined execution, operational scalability, and long‑term capability growth. Emphasizing leadership excellence, the role develops future delivery leaders and cultivates a trust‑based, inclusive environment that drives performance and accountability. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead development and execution of delivery strategies and operational plans supporting organizational goals and business outcomes. 
  • Oversee planning and delivery of complex, cross‑functional projects, ensuring progress, quality, and alignment with strategic priorities. 
  • Set departmental KPIs, standards, and performance expectations; monitor delivery metrics and intervene when risks arise. 
  • Establish and enforce delivery governance structures, policies, and compliance requirements across teams. 
  • Direct managers in resource planning, capacity management, and workforce optimization to support multiple delivery streams. 
  • Drive adoption of delivery methodologies, tools, and continuous improvement practices to enhance operational efficiency. 
  • Lead risk management activities—identify dependencies, assess impacts, and implement mitigation strategies across initiatives. 
  • Optimize vendor partnerships, oversee technology investments, and evaluate solution effectiveness to maximize business value. 
  • Oversee departmental budgets, forecasts, and financial performance; approve expenditures and provide financial insights to leadership. 
  • Develop leadership talent through coaching, mentorship, succession planning, and ongoing capability development. 

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

  • Intermediate expertise in delivery management, program execution, operational planning, and performance measurement. 
  • Strong understanding of delivery governance, regulatory expectations, and enterprise execution standards. 
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional delivery portfolios and consult as a subject‑matter expert across teams and business areas. 
  • Proficiency with delivery tools, portfolio management systems, workflow platforms, and performance analytics. 
  • Advanced communication skills for developing executive‑level reporting, risk summaries, and strategic recommendations. 
  • Leadership capability in managing managers, driving accountability, and shaping operational excellence across functions. 
  • Strategic decision‑making skills to evaluate trade‑offs, guide mitigation strategies, and ensure alignment with business priorities. 
  • Financial acumen to manage departmental budgets, forecasts, contracts, and vendor performance. 
  • Behavioral proficiency at Sr. Manager level: Change Advocate, Customer & Business Driven, Collaboration & Partnership, Decision Making, Influencing Others, Innovative Thinking, Oral & Written Communication, Servant Leadership, Strategic Thinking. 
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement, innovation, and long‑term maturation of delivery capabilities. 

Preferred Skills (Must-Have)

Large-Scale Program & Portfolio Leadership (DC / Supply Chain / Automation)

  • Proven experience leading multi-site or complex program delivery, ideally within distribution center expansion, automation, or supply chain environments
  • Ability to manage interdependencies across construction, IT, WCS, and operations

Advanced Project Management Discipline & Governance

  • Strong mastery of program governance, RAID management, and structured delivery frameworks (PMO rigor)
  • Ability to establish and enforce consistent execution standards across multiple project managers

Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence

  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a “3-in-a-box” model (IT + Ops + Business) and influence without direct authority
  • Skilled in navigating competing priorities across enterprise stakeholders

Execution Focus with Strong Risk & Dependency Management

  • Proven track record of proactively identifying risks, managing dependencies, and driving mitigation plans across complex programs
  • Comfortable operating in environments with ambiguity and evolving scope

Executive Communication & Reporting

  • Ability to synthesize complex programs into clear, concise executive-level updates (status, risks, decisions, financials)
  • Strong storytelling skills tied to measurable outcomes and business impact

Additional Skills That Would Strengthen the Role (Nice-to-Have)

  • Experience with DC startup / go-live execution (cutover planning, hypercare, stabilization)
  • Familiarity with WMS/WCS systems and automation vendors (e.g., KNAPP or similar)
  • Strong financial management discipline (forecasting, capital tracking, vendor management)
  • Experience driving continuous improvement and PM capability uplift across teams (playbooks, standard work, metrics)
  • Background in regulated environments or structured governance models (ITIL/SOX-like disciplines)

Business Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; typically 9+ years in delivery, program management, or operational leadership, with 1+ years managing managers or supervisors. 
  • Experience overseeing complex delivery portfolios, resource plans, and cross‑functional execution in a large enterprise environment. 
  • Exposure to regulated industries, delivery governance frameworks, and enterprise‑level reporting. 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership, manage budgets, and deliver measurable outcomes through high‑performing delivery teams. 

Travel: Hybrid role and may have to travel within the country up to 10%

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $121,300 - $202,100
