The Senior Director, Genospace Engineering role is a critical technology leadership role responsible for leading Genospace’s engineering (software and data), operations, and quality functions.   This position is part of the Insights & Technology organization at McKesson.  This leader partners closely with Product, Data Science, and cross-Ontada peers to drive the development, differentiation, scalability, and long-term sustainability of the Genospace platform and applications.

This role operates at an enterprise level, aligning Genospace’s technology strategy, talent model, and operating rhythm with Ontada and broader McKesson technology and engineering standards, while preserving the agility and innovation required in a high-growth, oncology-focused health technology environment.

The ideal candidate brings prior experience operating at the Director level or above, with demonstrated success as the primary leader and point of accountability for an engineering organization, and possess strong executive presence, communication skills, customer centricity and cross-enterprise influence.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering, Operations & Quality Leadership

  • Lead and oversee software engineering, data engineering, platform operations, and quality functions for Genospace, ensuring delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions.

  • Establish and maintain engineering excellence through modern development practices, quality standards, operational rigor, and continuous improvement.

  • Drive accountability for delivery outcomes, platform reliability, and operational performance across Genospace engineering teams.

Product & Data Science Partnership

  • Partner closely with Genospace Product and Data Science leaders and teams to support roadmap execution, platform differentiation, and lifecycle management of Genospace applications.

  • Translate product and data strategy into executable engineering plans that balance innovation, speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.

  • Enable rapid experimentation and learning while ensuring enterprise-grade reliability and compliance.

Enterprise & Portfolio Alignment

  • Work collaboratively with peers across Ontada, SCRI, and McKesson Technology (MT) to drive strategic alignment of Genospace across technology architecture, talent strategy, organizational design, and business priorities.

  • Align Genospace engineering practices, tools, and operating models with the broader Ontada technology and engineering organization, contributing to a “one team” culture grounded in mutual respect and boundary-less collaboration.

  • Act as a senior technology voice representing Genospace in enterprise-level discussions and decision forums.

People Leadership & Talent Strategy

  • Lead, develop, and retain high-performing engineering leaders and teams, including managers and senior individual contributors.

  • Serve as the primary leader and escalation point for the Genospace engineering organization.

  • Build strong succession pipelines and career paths aligned to the McKesson Career Framework, supporting internal mobility and long-term capability growth.

  • Foster an inclusive, high-trust culture that values collaboration, accountability, learning, and innovation.

Executive Leadership & Communication

  • Demonstrate strong executive presence and communication skills, effectively influencing senior leaders across technology, product, business, and clinical domains.

  • Communicate complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Model McKesson leadership behaviors and values, contributing to enterprise-wide culture and leadership expectations.

Minimum Requirement

Typically requires 13+ years of professional experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field required.

Critical Skills

  • 13+ years of progressive technology experience, with healthcare technology experience preferred

  • Prior experience operating at the Director level or above, with ownership of an engineering organization and accountability for delivery, talent, and outcomes

  • Proven experience leading software and/or data engineering teams in complex, scaled environments

  • Demonstrated success partnering cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, and Business leaders

  • Strong ability to operate effectively within a matrixed, enterprise environment

  • Experience supporting or scaling data-driven platforms and advanced analytics solutions

  • Familiarity with regulated environments, including enterprise quality, security, & compliance expectations

  • Demonstrated leadership of cloud-native data and software platforms, ensuring scalable, reliable, and modern engineering foundations.

  • Deep understanding of emerging AI trends, with the ability to champion and embed an AI-first mindset across engineering and product teams.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong executive presence

  • Demonstrated ability to drive organizational effectiveness, operational rigor, and change management

  • Ability to influence enterprise outcomes beyond direct span of control.

This position offers the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement based on recent updates to our in-office/work‑from‑home model.  If located in DFW area, the selected candidate may be expected to work on‑site at our Las Colinas office a minimum of two (2) days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely. Specific in‑office days may be designated according to team needs and business priorities.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$174,900 - $291,500
