Position Description

McKesson is seeking a Regional Manager to join our RxOwnership Team.

McKesson seeks a Regional Manager / Startup Pharmacy, RxOwnership to lead regional strategy and execution for retail pharmacy and Federally Qualified Health Center startups. This role is pivotal in identifying new business opportunities, supporting startup transactions, and expanding McKesson’s footprint in the independent pharmacy segment.

The Regional Manager will leverage AI tools and data-driven technology to analyze data, guide customers through site selection, business planning, and financial strategy, and ensure successful pharmacy openings. This role requires collaboration across field sales, pharmacy schools, buying groups, and financial institutions to promote RxOwnership and drive new business.

This is a full time, salaried, exempt position. Target base is 80K with a 10% annual target bonus. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Holidays & PTO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Startup Strategy & Execution
    Plan and execute regional strategies to increase successful pharmacy startups, including Health Centers.
    Use AI and analytics to vet locations and advise on business plans.

  • Consultative Support
    Provide guidance on credit approval, onboarding, and team assembly.
    Maintain expert relationships and conduct location analysis.

  • Field Collaboration
    Partner with Field Sales, Field Sales VPs, AVPs, and MCFS to support financing and startup execution.
    Attend sales meetings and NCPA workshops to promote RxOwnership.

  • Tracking & Analysis
    Maintain accurate databases in SFDC and Performance Notes.
    Track startup activity and provide strategic regional analysis.

  • Program Development
    Develop tactics to reduce churn and increase new business.
    Host webinars, co-write articles, and support pharmacy school partnerships.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience. 

Education
4-year degree in related field highly preferred or equivalent experience. 

Licensure

  • Pharmacist or Pharmacy Tech license a plus but not required.

  • Apexus and 340B certification a plus but not required for hire.

  • Valid driver’s license with clean MVR.

Critical Skills

  • 4+ years in retail pharmacy operations (chain or independent).

  • Business/finance knowledge and pharmacy law basics.

  • Consultative and critical thinking skills.

  • Knowledge of 340B, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and pharmacy startup processes a plus.

  • Financial analysis and banking/loan knowledge.

  • Salesforce.com proficiency.

Additional Skills

  • 4+ years startup pharmacy or brokerage experience preferred.

  • Understanding of income statements, balance sheets, and tax returns.

  • Familiarity with PBM industry and licensing requirements.

Working Conditions

  • Able to travel domestically 10% of the time.

  • Remote work environment – Ideally in the Central or Western time zone.

  • Must be authorized to work in the US unrestricted – This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean, active, unrestricted driving record/MVR. 

  • The primary territory is Texas and California.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$78,800 - $131,300
