Role Overview

The Director, Technical & Platform Product Management will lead the strategy, development, launch, and adoption of capabilities for the Platform for McKesson’s pharmacy technology business across data, analytics, and and related technology platforms. This role will partner cross-functionally to understand what data they need, how they need to consume it, and which business capabilities it must support. The role will own the data product backlog and translate these needs into capabilities, epics, stories, acceptance criteria, and roadmap priorities and partner closely with engineering and other product team members to execute. Success will be measured through data freshness, completeness, quality, availability, adoption, delivery efficiency, and measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define data platform strategy and roadmap: Own the data capability vision, target consumers, value propositions, roadmap priorities, and build-versus-buy decisions for McKesson Pharmacy System’s Platform.
  • Lead data product discovery: Partner with other data teams to define the data needed for McKesson Pharmacy System’s Platform, consumption methods, and supported business capabilities. Validate needs and feasibility with engineering and architecture before investment.
  • Shape reusable data capabilities: Define requirements for data ingestion and pipelines, including batch, streaming, and change data capture, and transactional and analytical data modeling. Make data available through APIs, events, extracts, and data products.
  • Own the data product backlog: Translate consumer needs into capabilities, epics, stories, acceptance criteria, and roadmap priorities engineering can execute. Define what McKesson Pharmacy System’s Platform must deliver from a data perspective, balancing business value, dependencies, risk, security, technical debt, and cost.
  • Drive data migration and adoption: Define legacy-platform data migration requirements, including transformation, mapping, enrichment, and reconciliation. Develop onboarding, documentation, and feedback strategies for data consumers.
  • Define and measure data expectations: Establish measurable expectations for data freshness, completeness, quality, and availability. Monitor adoption, pipeline reliability, latency, cost, and consumer experience; use telemetry and feedback to guide roadmap decisions.
  • Guide data governance and lifecycle decisions: Partner with engineering, architecture, security, and data teams on data quality, governance, lineage, cataloging, and stewardship, including PHI/PII, retention, security, access controls, versioning, migration, and deprecation.
  • Influence technical and business decisions: Communicate data platform trade-offs to engineering, product, customers and executive audiences. Align cross-functional decisions on business capabilities, consumer needs, architecture, reliability, security, and cost without prescribing engineering implementation.
