About the Role

We’re seeking a seasonedTechnical Product Ownerto lead the delivery of innovative software solutions within our application modernization initiatives. This role bridges the gap between product strategy and engineering execution, ensuring that technical teams are aligned with business goals. You’ll work cross-functionally with developers, UX/UI designers, and other product owners to drive scalable, user-centric solutions from concept to release.

This is a strategic, high-impact role ideal for someone with a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for translating business needs into actionable development work.


Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Definition

  • Define and maintain product vision, strategy, and roadmap in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Translate business requirements into clear user stories and technical specifications.

  • Become a subject matter expert (SME) for future implementations and product capabilities.

Agile Product Ownership

  • Own and manage the engineering backlog using Jira or Azure DevOps.

  • Lead agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.

  • Ensure alignment between product goals and development execution.

Technical Collaboration

  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure feasibility and clarity of requirements.

  • Participate in architecture and design discussions to guide product decisions.

  • Support API design, system integration, and platform scalability.

UX/UI Partnership

  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure intuitive, user-friendly experiences.

  • Contribute to wireframe reviews, design validation, and usability testing.

Quality & Release Management

  • Work with QA teams to define test cases and perform user acceptance testing (UAT).

  • Ensure releases meet functional, performance, and usability standards.

Documentation & Enablement

  • Create and maintain product documentation, system requirements, and release notes.

  • Support onboarding and training for internal teams and end users.

Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and monitor engineering KPIs and usage metrics.

  • Use data and feedback to drive continuous improvement across products and processes.


Minimum Qualifications

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

Critical Skills 

  • 7+ years of experience in product management, technical product ownership, or software design.

  • Strong understanding of SDLC and agile methodologies.

  • Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable).

  • Ability to read and write basic SQL and Python scripts.

  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience with enterprise software platforms and SaaS products.

Preferred Skills 

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.

  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance).

  • Background in UX/UI collaboration or customer experience design.

  • Familiarity with compliance and security standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).

  • Developer background or hands-on technical experience.

  • Knowledge of AI tools used to accelerate software development.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$126,100 - $210,100
