Position Description 

The Senior SDLC Governance Lead is responsible for overseeing the governance of software development processes within a healthcare organization. This role ensures that all technology initiatives comply with Mckesson Development standards, and the industry’s best practices. The position plays a critical role in aligning IT development with best-in-class standards and improving overall product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Governance & Compliance:

• Develop and enforce SDLC non-negotiables for product quality across all phases of the SDLC

• Advise and provide examples of phase deliverables to help educate and empower disparate development teams to deliver consistently and repeatably

• Devise a mechanism to inspect deliverables at various SDLC phase gates to ensure quality and consistency for our coded work products

• Help to establish oversight over AI usage in the SDLC as this space is rapidly changing

Process Leadership:

• Demonstrate and have familiarity with all phases of the SDLC (design, build, test, deploy and liaison to Operations)

• Collaborate with disparate application teams to ensure buy-in on SDLC NFRs and phase checks to ensure collaboration and partnership.

• Establish and facilitate team KPIs for SDLC performance and compliance to align with agreed upon productivity metrics like DORA, SPACE and other operational success metrics 

Risk & Policy Management:

• Identify and mitigate risks related to software development and deployment in healthcare settings.

• Maintain and update SDLC policies, procedures, and documentation.

• Serve as a liaison between Development teams and corporate functions for SDLC governance-related decisions.

Training & Communication:

• Provide training and mentorship to development teams on SDLC governance 

• Communicate SDLC governance expectations and updates to stakeholders across departments.

Minimum Requirements

• Typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience

Critical Skills

• 7+ years in software development or SDLC governance

• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives with a deep command of SDLC processes across multiple business units.

• Proven experience implementing SDLC governance frameworks in regulated industries.

• Proficiency in tools like JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, Github, Github Actions and other Deployment methodologies.

• Technical and process documentation skills to outline required processes for Business teams to follow

• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to analyze complex systems and recommend governance improvements.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or other related field (or equivalent experience)
